The export volume exceeded expectations at the end of the first quarter of this year. On the one hand, the price trend of frozen storage garlic in March this year fluctuated at a low level, which is conducive to stimulating consumption. On the other hand, Indonesia did not purchase to supplement its domestic market in January and February. So there is a demand gap in March. Indonesia is active in replenishment, and much quotas are delegated to China, which stimulates the growth of garlic export consumption.
At the same time, the price elasticity index of exported garlic in March 2022 was -2.09 points, which was less than zero. The changes in the export unit price and export volume were different. The export volume of garlic increased, while the export unit price decreased. Shown by data from the International Garlic Trade Network, the export unit price of garlic in March was $905.63/ton, with a decrease by 13.12% compared with the export unit price of $1,042.37/ton last year.
